Soil.  Can’t always buy it. Can’t grow without it!  But how do you create great soil?  And how does your compost (or lack thereof) affect it?  What composts are best and what are the best ways to make them?  What do I do with my soil test results?  How can I create more soil affordably and quickly?

After purchasing a farm “soil not included,” John had to create “six inches of soil in sixteen” months and loves giving others the principles and tools necessary to create great soil and compost.  The goal is to help you learn how to apply soil stewardship principles for both annual and perennial food growing spaces, that not only reduce your reliance on fertilizers and amendments but provide abundantly both for you and your beneficial insects and animals!

COST: $90
WHAT’S INCLUDED: Students will receive some handouts overviewing soil management and compost strategies/rules
WHAT TO BRING: Bring your own soil test results to discuss/look at; You can also bring physical soil samples to talk about
