Topic: Raising Livestock on Small Homesteads

The topic will cover multiple species that are suitable for properties under 10 acres, or properties that are not perfectly suited to pasture grazing. (Spoiler alert! There is no perfect.) Janet will share both her knowledge from her animal science degree and over 25 years of homesteading utilizing a small barnyard within a larger tree farm property, having successfully raised goats, sheep, poultry, rabbits, cattle, horses, and pigs. This lecture will help you find the best path for your plans regarding livestock. Don’t close the door to your dreams of raising livestock for milk, meat, or fiber. Topics will include fencing, housing, handling, pasture rotation, feeding hay, selling the offspring, record keeping, manure management, and more.
